Horse Back Riding

For those of you looking for a different type of workout, try riding a horse about 15 to 20 miles. Endurance riding is a great workout. I don't actually ride in endurance rides, but a friend of mine does. When he is working his horses, I'll sometimes ride with him. We'll ride anywhere between 15 to 20 miles in an hours time. These horses are Arabians and they're just green broke. You do not completely break endurance horses because they lose a little bit of competitiveness. Anyway, after about 10 miles your butt is hurting, but that's not all. Your calves are burning from posting in the saddle. Your shoulders are burning from holding the horse back. Believe me, it's a complete body workout, but it's fun.

Mail Boxes

I have been looking for a new mailbox for my home. I have looked around at local retailers but just haven't found exactly what I was looking for. However, I have discovered the perfect website for purchasing a mailbox. It is called mailboxixchange. They have lots of beautiful residential mailboxes. They have a wide assortment ranging from decorative columns to wall mounts to traditional single-unit and post packages. They even have mail slots for doors and address plaques for identification purposes. Their mailboxes are made of high quality materials including bronze or high security steel. Mailboxixchange.com also offers a wide selection of commercial mail boxes. Their commercial line ranges from multi-unit dwelling boxes for apartments to courier boxes to high security night deposit type boxes. All of this comes at reasonable prices as well. So if you are looking for a mailbox check out Mailboxixchange.com.

Sleeping and exercising

Probably everyone knew that sleeping plays an important role in one's health life. Studies show that if you get 7-9 hours per night, you can expect to enjoy a healthier, usually happier life. It also helps tremendously with exercising. Adequate sleep gives you more energy and stamina. So next time you "just don't feel like exercising," consider how much sleep you got the night before. I guarantee that there is a direct relationship between the two.

Vacation to Australia

As you probably remember from one of my previous posts, I have been dreaming about a vacation to Australia. Well I have done some more research and thought I would share that with you. I would probably start my trip by staying in a Hotel in Sydney. Sydney has lots to do and see including the world's largest IMAX, the Sydney Aquarium, the Australian National Maritime Museum, clubs, casinos, and many places to dine and shop. Out of all the areas of Sydney, I would probably most like to visit Darling Harbour. Darling Harbour is a waterfront precinct of Sydney that has developed into one of the country's largest entertainment areas. From here you can take a cruise, ferry, or sailboat tour of the city. If you do not want to sight see by boat you can also take a monorail land tour from Darling Harbor. Also there is almost always free outdoor entertainment in the precinct to meet almost any one's taste.

After sometime in Sydney, I would probably then want to go stay at a Hotel in Melbourne or a Hotel in Perth. Melbourne is the city in Australia where a lot of different cultures meet and mix. It has some of the best dining in the world, and you guys know how I like to eat. They have a wide range of restaurants, bistros, and bars that serve classic quick meals to exotic spreads. The types of cuisine range from Spanish to Vietnamese to Italian to French.

Finally, I would probably like to end my vacation by staying at one of the Hotels in Brisbane. Brisbane has more rural outdoor and nature type activities. Some of its best attractions are the Mt Coot-tha Lookout, South Bank’s sandy beach and open grassy picnic spots, numerous botanical gardens, the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, Moreton Bay where you can feed wild dolphins, or just take a relaxing ferry trip down the river.

Well I'll continue to dream about vacations later but for now it is back to work.

Dockers

240x180
I do not know what you guys' fashion style is, but I like Levi Dockers casual pants. I wear them every day to work except on casual Fridays when I wear my Levi's jeans. I have just always liked the quality and comfortable feel of the pants. They come in lots of different colors and are very durable (like I said I wear them everyday and they can sometimes last almost six months before getting frayed enough to get a new pair). There is a new Dockers contest going on at this time. The Dockers® "Make Your Own Dockers® Commercial" Contest provides entrants with the opportunity to create a 30-second video advertisement for Dockers. Video advertisements may be viewed online at http://www.nbc.com/dockers, and may be rated by the viewers. The grand prize winner's video advertisement will be submitted to NBC Universal, Inc. for consideration as a commercial to be shown during the June 13, 2008 broadcast of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, as well as made available for a limited time online at NBC.com. There are some really good videos that have already been submitted. My favorite video submitted so far is titled Dockers Temptation and involves a cat, a pair of pants, and a slightly risque play on words. If you are like me and love wearing Dockers I encourage you to create your own video and submit your entry to this exciting Dockers contest.

Police Gear

If there is a profession that does not get the respect that it deserves, it is, in my opinion, police officers. Now I realize that there are lazy and big-headed officers, but that is in every profession. I believe that police officers should be equipped with the very best on the market. Lapolicegear.com has some of the best equipment on the market. You can order some of the finest police gear there including tactical holsters. So if you're an officer or just interested in the gear, check it out.

Running

Over the years, running has gotten a bad rap. Many people think that the impact your feet absorb isn't good. This is only a myth. When we were born, our bodies were designed to walk, run and jump. Things such as ballet, yoga, and other exercises that push your joints to the limits are not good for you. Did ya'll know that ballet dancers have a higher injury rate than football players. Not only that, but there feet suffer from terrible athritis, stress fractures, and they look terrible. Any exercises or flexibility trainings that puts your body into unnatural positions are not healthy. Now, of course, running marathons and ultramarathons can lead to injuries, but running sensibly is completely safe and a very good cardio and leg workout.

Good News

One thing I hate is to be interrupted from a meal or a rest by a phone call from some telemarketer or prank caller. I had just finished a long, hard workout the other day. I'd just laid down for a rest some prank caller rang my house. Now I'd just ran 2 miles and lifted weights for like two hours, and the last thing I wanted to do was jump off the couch and answer the phone. Any way, I realize there is no call list information, but that doesn't help with pranksters. What is cool though is a program, who's number is this, that provides a reverse phone lookup service. Works great.

Scary Movie

Unknown
Do you like scary movies? I know I do. I like to get the mess scared out of me every once in a while. The creepier the movie the better. If you are like me, then there is a new Horror Movie out just for people like us. It is called Frontier(s). It looks like one of the most scary movies I have seen come along in a while. It is unrated and is over the top gory and creepy. It is about three criminals and a beautiful girl tied up with the wrong guy in Paris. They try to hide out from the police in an inn, but they find out that the inn is actually an endless maze of tunnels crawling with hungry subhuman cannibals that they must fight to survive. It looks really good. Unfortunately because of its content, it is only being shown in select theater listings, and the closest one to me is New York City (I am in Georgia) so I probably will have to watch this one on DVD. I definitely suggest everyone that likes scary movies to go to the official website of Frontier(s) and watch the unrated Trailer. I think once you check it out you will be excited about this new scary movie as well.

Flat Feet

A friend of mine just fractured his foot. The doctor said that he was more prone to this type of injury because he was flat-footed. Honestly, I'd never heard of that, but it is true. After I researched it, I could not find any evidence against this, but I found plenty supporting it. Anyway, I thought that it was interesting.

Farming...

I am not sure if I have ever mentioned it, but I grew up farming. My grandfather had a farm, and throughout my middle and high school and college years, I worked with him. I was probably in my best physical shape back then. Think about, if I was not hoeing the garden, I was putting up fence. Believe it or not, driving the tractors we had wasn't a cake walk either. Now we worked hard; we didn't have the tractors with the AC and radio. We had a couple of fords, hoes, and our hands. We could eat huge - and I do mean huge - meals three times a day and still loose weight. Anyway, if you enjoy farming, and I actually do, visit http://blog.alextiller.com. Alex Tiller obviously knows a lot about agriculture. You should really visit this blog. It is a great read. Also, get off you lazy behinds, get outside, grow something, and you will loose weight. I promise.

Reverse Mortgage

An interesting type of home loan that I have been hearing advertised a lot more lately is a reverse mortgage. A reverse equity mortgage is a unique type of home loan that enables homeowners 62 and older to use their home’s equity to receive a monthly income, a lump sum of cash, or a line of credit. There is no income qualifying and credit requirements are very lenient. So this is a very easy loan to qualify for. There is no repayment until you permanently leave the home. You retain full ownership of your home and you can leave it to your heirs if you wish. You remain on title to the property just as you do now. You DO NOT relinquish any property rights. You can never lose your home regardless of the amount of equity remaining at any time. You can stay in your home for the rest of your life if you choose to. No matter how much you owe. Remember the Reverse Mortgage loan is not due until you permanently leave the residence. Your property taxes and homeowners insurance must be paid current at all times. Proceeds from a reverse mortgage home loan are not considered income. Therefore the funds you receive are not subject to income tax and they do not affect Social Security Benefits or Medicare Benefits. Reverse mortgages become due and payable at the time the homeowner permanently leaves the home. If one spouse passes away and the other is still living at the residence, the Reverse Mortgage will not become due until the last spouse leaves the home permanently. The reverse mortgage can be repaid either from the proceeds from the sale of the residence or other assets. You can leave your home to your heirs if you wish. They can repay the loan and keep the home, or sell it and keep the remaining equity. It’s their choice. The reverse mortgage is a non-recourse type of loan. Your home is the collateral for the Reverse Mortgage, as with any other type of home loan. The lender has no claim or recourse against any other asset you own. You can never owe more than the value of your home. It is a very interesting concept and definitely worth looking into. Ameritek Mortgage is a company specializing in ca reverse mortgages. Their site has lots of good information about reverse mortgages and regular home loans as well. It features a mortgage calculator and gives quotes on reverse mortgages. So if you are interested in getting more information on this type of mortgage or in taking out california reverse mortgages then I suggest you check out Ameritek Mortgage.

Wedding Exercise

Who would think you could get in a workout at a wedding...well a wedding reception? Well, I did. I went to a friends wedding the other evening. They had a big reception with a dj and the works. Truth is, I cannot dance, but I try. My wife and a couple of her friends went to the bathroom (I have no idea why women have to go to the bathroom in flocks), and while she was gone, this old chick grabs my arm and drags me on the dance floor on this fast song. I mean she was in her 60s or so. Remember I can't dance, but when I try, I attempt the slow songs. Now this old lady could dance; she was getting down. When that song was finally over, another old woman pulled me out there. Honestly, it wasn't a great workout, but I can definitely see where dancing would be a great way to stay in shape.

The reception was fun though. If you're getting married soon, save as much money on Wedding Invitations as possible and invest in a band or dj. It's cool. 1st-class-wedding-invitations.com has a new feature that allows you to view the invitations in detail.

Opinions

One thing I like about blogging is that I can write my opinions. I don't have to collect a lot of fact, although I do; I don't have to validate my statement or articles if I don't want to. I just tell what works for me, as far as health and fitness, and that's it. I love working out and writing, so it's great. I'll re-phrase that, I like writing about topics I want to write about. In my opinion, exercises just makes sense, and letting your body's health go without a care about it is stupid. Whatever you do, keep you body in good shape.

Online Poker

OK guys. Confession Time. I am a poker junkie. I love watching the World Championship of Poker on TV, and sometimes I can not stop playing online poker. It is one of my biggest impediments to exercising. However, I feel that it doesn't hurt to have a little fun sometimes. So if you like playing poker as well, I have found a great site that you might want to check out: http://www.macpokeronline.com/

http://www.macpokeronline.com/ has a links list of lots of good websites where you can play poker online with a macintosh. Some of them are for money and some are just for fun. I only play for fun. Some of them have software to download and some you can just play online. This is good because it can be hard to find good poker websites that support macintosh. Its front page also has news articles that concern the poker world such as different legislation and updates on the poker all stars. However, what I like best about the site is its poker rules and strategy tips page. It has the rules to all the different types of poker games, which really helps when there is at least a dozen variations of poker games. The strategy tips are good too. They have tips for novices as well as experts.

Maybe this won't make you all stray too much from your exercise routines. But I find it helps me to unwind and relax after a long day or a strenous workout. But if you like playing poker or watching it on TV, check out http://www.macpokeronline.com/ and play online.

Sports drinks or not...

Do you drink sports drinks while you workout? I do. Some people say that it hurts a workout because of the calories; however, if you're not working out to lose weight, it helps. If you workout in the morning before breakfast, a sports drink helps give you energy and carbohydrates which help fuel the muscles. When I workout, I workout for a long period of time...usually about 2.5 to 3 hrs. After an amount of time, your muscles become depleted of carbohydrates and other "stuff" that is necessary for a successful workout. Sports drinks help replinish these needs. So I would say, unless your main goal is to lose weight, which it may very well be, sports drinks while working out are a good idea.

Stretching...

I found out an interesting fact. A study was done with aroud 1600 men who were split into 2 groups--stretching group and a non-stretching group. There were no significant difference in injuries. The only difference was the level of fitness. And I always thought extra stretching prevented muscle and ligiment injuries.

Pull-ups...

I've started back doing pull-ups and push-ups. Because of my job, I haven't been able to go to the gym fo a little while; I have been doing stuff around my house though---sit-ups, pull-ups, push-ups, crunches, etc. I've found that those work just as good if not better than a lot of weights. When I first started, I was so sore; and I had been working out. I actually feel like I'm getting a better workout now.

Anyway, if you want some ideas about how to save more money or make a little online, take a look at this guys Personal Blog. You can get a few catchy ideas from here.

Eating late...

I am tired of people telling me that eating late at night will cause you to gain weight or fail to lose weight. It simply is not true. The truth is that it does not matter when you do eat, if you eat a healthy amount of calories, and by healthy I do not mean a lot, you will lose or maintain weight. So the next time someone says that, call them on their BS.
